GODTHRYMM: Release New Video ‘The Sea As My Grave’ UK Doom Metal Trio Featuring Former Members Of My Dying Bride And Anathema

“‘The Sea As My Grave’ paints a picture of a broken, tired human giving up their earthly remains to the sea for an eternal rest in the vastness of the oceans.” — GODTHRYMM

UK doom metal trio GODTHRYMM – featuring vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, Solstice), drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (ex-My Dying Bride, Anathema), and bassist Bob Crolla – is pleased to unveil the official new video for “The Sea As My Grave.” The forlorn hymn comes off the band’s forthcoming debut, Reflections, set for release February 14th via Profound Lore.

The black and white clip features live footage from a GODTHRYMM performance in Belgium last summer and was pieced together by Carl Assault. Further elaborates Glencross of the track, “Crushing waves of titanic riffs and pounding drums, punctuated with ghostly leads and mournful vocals… lyrically, ‘The Sea As My Grave’ paints a picture of a broken, tired human giving up their earthly remains to the sea for an eternal rest in the vastness of the oceans. Musically, we believe this song perfectly defines us stylistically as a band and represents us perfectly as musicians.”

Stream previously released track “Among The Exalted” HERE.

Recorded and mixed by Nathan Bailey and featuring artwork and design by Brian D’Agosta of Gostworks Art (Vallenfyre, War//Plague), with ReflectionsGODTHRYMM has unleashed a mammoth slab of heavy, mournful, yet pounding traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ’90s UK doom/Peaceville Records. A massive step up from their debut EP, Reflections is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM into darker, more melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring, passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Taylor-Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the rhythm section that immense and glorious tone, Reflections is a testament to the glory days of the genre while simultaneously making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.

GODTHRYMM‘s Reflections will be released on CD, 2xLP, and digital formats.

GODTHRYMM was forged in 2017 by Glencross and sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots, creating the music he was known to help forge with Solstice on the legendary New Dark Age album and especially with the heralded My Dying Bride from the 2000 – 2014 time period. Further adding to the band pedigree is drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels who, after some lineup refining following the band’s A Grand Reclamation debut EP, became the core of GODTHRYMM. In the months to follow, the pair recorded the colossal Reflections full-length. Upon its completion, Glencross and Taylor-Steels added bassist Bob Crolla to the fold making GODTHRYMM a true power trio of doom.

OSSAERT: Dutch One Man Black Metal Project To Release Debut Album Bedehuis Via Argento Records

Zwolle’s, NL, solitary Black Metal entity OSSAERT has completed its first full-length recording and will unload it upon the masses through Argento Records on February 14th 2020.

Fuelled by hatred and disgust towards everything sacred, “Bedehuis” is a superbly written debut that balances an almost theatrical dramatic charge with a malignant atmosphere which permeates through every sound wave of the record.

This 35 minute long sonic journey seamlessly shifts between savage Black Metal predatory aggression and contemplative melodic passages, wall of sound pummelling oppression and a subtle but omnipresent macabre beauty.

“Bedenhuis” will be available on limited blood/smoke vinyl, black vinyl and digital on February 14th, with more formats following later.

The album’s opener, “I”, can now be streamed here!

W: Drums (session)

Blåådpalt Release New Video/Single God Of Razorblade From Their Forthcoming Debut LP Sliced To Perfection

Finnish death metal band Blåådpalt are set to release their debut album Sliced To Perfection on February 28th 2020 via Inverse Records.
The band have released a brutal and bloody music video for their first single God Of Razorblade.

The band comments:
“We chose ”God of Razorblade” as the single release from our album, because it reflects the band`s music overall. It has rawness and groovy parts, but also a melodic ambiance. The second verse`s vocal parts were replaced by a guitar solo during the mixing stage, which brought more versatility to the track. The makers of the music video did an excellent job creating an atmosphere that suits the single. We are extremely pleased with the music video.”

Drought Release Debut EP MMXIX

Drought Release Debut EP MMXIX

Formed in 2019, Drought is a collective of individuals with influences across Sludge, Death Black and Doom Metal. The output of which is expressive and cathartic, aiming to evoke a multitude of senses and emotions within the listener. Members have been involved with bands such as Coldwar, Mortichnia, Warpath, Wound Upon Wound and Slave Zero

They have released their debut EP MMXIX and it’s a real statement of intent. It consists of two tracks, Dismal Grin and Plague Trader. Both are excellent, but Plague Trader is the better of the two tracks in my opinion. It’s a brilliant track spanning 7:16 and concludes by suitably fading out into a great use of samples,

I personally think this is a great EP.

Megadeth Return To Touring

Megadeth Return To Touring

Megadeth have officially christened their return to touring following frontman Dave Mustaine’s cancer diagnosis last June. A celebratory update from the group proclaiming their comeback emerged this week, just days away from the start of the band’s European tour with Five Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves.

When Mustaine first revealed his battle with throat cancer last year, the “Big Four” thrash metal outfit canceled all adjacent concert plans. Mustaine continued work on an upcoming Megadeth album, and by September, the rocker’s doctors were “very positive” regarding a successful outcome to his treatment. The following month, bassist David Ellefson discussed the band’s impending upturn. Now, the group is ready to get back on the road.

“Megadeth is back!” the band shared via their various social media outlets Tuesday (Jan. 7) alongside a photo of Mustaine and fellow guitarist Kiko Loureiro performing in concert. “We can’t wait to see and play for you all on the Killing Road in 2020! What songs do you want to hear?” See the update down toward the bottom of this post.

Last November, Mustaine opened up about his health. The musician told Rolling Stone he “never settles for anything but complete success, or, in this case, victory.” He also thanked Megadeth fans and looked to the future.

“I’m on the other side of the majority of the treatment, and I feel really strong,” Mustaine explained. “After the radiation, the guy said all of my test results looked amazing. ‘You look like you’re in a stage 1 and you’re supposed to be in stage 3 right now.’ And then the oncologist said the same thing: ‘You look really strong.'”
