GENOCIDE PACT: Washington DC Death Metal Band Release ‘Structural Dissolution’ From Relapse Records Debut ‘Order Of Torment’

We are now streaming “Structural Dissolution” by Washington, DC-based GENOCIDE PACT, and the band’s impending Relapse Records debut, Order Of Torment. The track strikes as the album closes in on its release on February 2nd.

Offers Revolver with the new track, “It’s been five years since GENOCIDE PACT first clambered forth from the swamp known as Washington, D.C., subjecting audiences in our nation’s capital – and in time, everywhere else – to some of the most gnarled death metal in recent memory… Judging from what we’ve heard of their upcoming sophomore album Order Of Torment, namely its crushing first single, ‘Conquered and Disposed,’ GENOCIDE PACT‘s ascendancy is all but certain in 2018.”

Also stream the LP’s opening track “Conquered And Disposed” HERE.

Recorded by Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations in Baltimore (Full Of Hell, Code Orange, Magrudergrind), and featuring cover art from the legendary Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Pink Floyd, Autopsy, Marduk), GENOCIDE PACT‘s Order Of Torment features eight tracks of pulverizing, relentless death metal that pas homage to the greats while pushing the genre to chaotic new realms of possibility. With a thick, titanic crunch that focuses on crushing groove as much as skull-splitting intensity, GENOCIDE PACT is the death metal band to watch in 2018.

GENOCIDE PACT‘s Order Of Torment will see release February 2nd, 2018 on CD, LP, and digital formats via Relapse Records. Physical packages and digital order are available via HERE and all digital retail outlets HERE.

Hailing from the chaotic realm that is our nation’s capital, GENOCIDE PACT has been making pulverizing, relentless death metal since their inception in 2013. No Clean Singing praised the band as “titanically heavy,” and Cvlt Nation issued, “suffocating in the highest, complementary form of the word, GENOCIDE PACT crafts death metal that hearkens to the greats while pushing forward to something even greater.” After touring on a much buzzed about demo and 7″ single, the band recorded their debut LP Forged Through Domination for A389 Recordings in 2015. The band has since toured North America extensively as well as select dates with Nails, Toxic Holocaust, Gatecreeper, Darkest Hour, Iron Reagan, Power Trip, and Torche, in addition to an appearance at the renowned Maryland Deathfest.

PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS: We Irish Premiere New Track ‘Delinquent’ As ‘Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue’ Release Day Looms

January 26th will see the release of Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue, the anticipated new full-length from PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS. In advance of its release, we are hosting the Irish premiere of new single, “Delinquent.”

Notes ANSELMO simply of the latest bruiser, “It’s old school-meets-ugly-school. Good shit.”

Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue will see release on CD, vinyl, and digital formats in North America via Housecore Records. The record is being licensed in Europe by Season Of Mist. Physical preorder bundles are currently available via the Housecore Store at THIS LOCATION. For digital orders, point your browser HERE.

In an advance review of the record, The Rock Pit hails, “a brutal album, heavy in attack but chaotic in style and grandeur.” Two Guys Metal Reviews observes, “a sort of unreal bitterness here that you can’t help but to admire,” furthering, “The sheer anger PHIL communicates in his most crushing vocal lines and the mind melting assault of these tracks speaks of a world few of us are truly comfortable with. ANSELMO and the gang are pulling apart societies problems and forcing us to choke on them.” Metal Nexus writes, “this record has everything one would want from a PHILIP H. ANSELMO project – testosterone-filled, aggressive, no-nonsense metal with attitude. His decades of experience creating, performing, and recording heavy music is showcased exceptionally here.” Metal Wani concurs, “Every song is full of relentless anxiety, tension, and malice. Seeking solace is not in the cards as the death-tinged hardcore brutality within this album is terrifying. However, there is a bit of a cathartic release that only the tortured vocals of PHIL ANSELMO can provide.”

PHILIP H. ANSELMO hasn’t just paved his own path; he’s bulldozed it with his bare hands. His primal, powerful presence led Pantera to Grammy Award nominations, sales of twenty million albums worldwide, legions of diehard fans, and an indisputable heavy metal legacy. Simultaneously, Down carved out a distinct niche with a gold-selling debut and three more critically acclaimed releases. Superjoint made a triumphant return in 2016 and in the midst of everything, ANSELMO joined Scour alongside members of Pig Destroyer and Cattle Decapitation and teamed up with horror icon Bill Moseley for the Bill & Phil project. However, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS speaks to a certain need for him.

Instead of treading the same ground, ANSELMO and his bandmates in THE ILLEGALS, open up another doorway altogether with their 2018 sophomore release, Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue. It’s extreme, abrasive, aggressive, and anthemic. In other words, it’s purely ANSELMO.

Following up 2013’s Walk Through Exits Only, this new body of work hinges on no holds-barred lyrical misanthropy and insurgent instrumental intricacy as it sharpens any and all edges to guillotine precision. “It ain’t pretty,” ANSELMO exclaims. “It’s more straightforward and cohesive to a degree, but it still goes off the rails here and there. We went through it song after song cut and fucking dry. I was in a specific mindset. I wanted to further my endeavors into a genre of music that I adore. As all ten songs blow by, I wanted an unforgiving feel. This is what was on my mind. It’s a recorded capsule of time.”

Following a successful maiden touring cycle for THE ILLEGALS, the frontman hunkered down at his home studio in Louisiana to record what would become Choosing Mental Illness As A Virtue in 2014 and 2015. The lineup shifted as Stephen Taylor (Superjoint) transitioned from bass to guitar, Mike DeLeon (Flesh Horder, Being Killed, ex-MOD et al) joined as a guitarist, and Walter Howard (Grieved, Oppressive Force) took over bass duties. Meanwhile, Jose Manuel “Blue” Gonzalez (Superjoint, Warbeast) held down the drums. Through rigorous rehearsals and writing sessions, a framework for the new music took shape as ANSELMO wholeheartedly welcomed the ideas of his cohorts.

“Their creative input is fucking fantastic,” beams ANSELMO. “This is something that was very different from the first record where I was very staunch. I wanted it to be ugly. I was very firm that I was writing every fucking note. The thought was, ‘This is my contribution to ugly music right this second in a heavy metal vein.’ That was great at the time. Walk Through Exits Only made its own little statement that I am a free agent and I belong to no single band. This time, I worked closely with everyone. We tried different ideas together. It made the spirit of this thing come alive even more because of the enthusiasm these guys bring. It enhanced the integrity of the project.”

Siege Of Limerick Make Second Announcement

Siege Of Limerick Make Second Announcement

BadReputation Ireland recently made their second announcement for the next Siege Of Limerick.

I have a confession to make though!

I done these out of order and posted about the third announcement yesterday first. That five second video I made suits I think!

A real mixed batch this time. The first was more classic/Thrash and yesterday was Death/Black metal.

All great additions though!

Dog Tired

Top classic Doom/Sludge metal from Scotland. This is my formal introduction to the band writing this piece, and I’m really impressed!I shall be divulging deeper…

Witch Tripper

Rocking doom metal from the UK. A band I’m familiar with as I caught them in passing at Bloodstock. I wandered in and stayed for their set. A really good band that will win over many at the Siege!

Limerick based Progressive Instrumental band are regulars at the Siege and will no doubt put on another great show at the upcoming Siege. Their performances are quite rare these days so always a great band to check out. Especially if you want to see something different during the day!

Another great addition to the Siege. How do I describe them? I suppose a mix of hardcore/metal/punk with their own twist. A great band that are making a name for themselves over the past couple of years and shall no doubt convert more at the Siege!

Another band I’m discovering for the first time. I’m also very impressed by this band. A real dirty mix of Grindcore/Crust with a Death metal twist. I can imagine these lads will be really good live!

Third Island

Doom metal in the vibe of early Paradise Lost with their own unique blend of Stoner, Sludge thrown in. A band I’ve been following for a while now and showing great promise. They have new material coming out this year so I expect they shall have improved as time progressed as a band.

Arjuna’s Eye

Progressive metal from Cork. A band I’ve been hearing a lot about over the past twelve months and anything I’ve heard from them is very good. A band firmly on the rise and shall gain new friends/fans at the Siege!

Zhi Ren

Cork based Zhi Ren shall be making their Siege debut with two new members. Both are extremely good musicians and shall no doubt alter the bands sound slightly, but considering their musical pedigree I’m very interested to see what they do next. They are easily one of my favourite Irish bands and wait until you see their vocalist on stage. The mad hoor is liable to do and say anything! They shall without doubt convert many at the Siege!

That’s the second batch of announcements. Another stellar list of bands. This is shaping up to be an incredible Siege and up there with the best!

Siege Of Limerick Make Third Announcement

Siege Of Limerick Make Third Announcement

Inconcessus Lux Lucis

Thrash/Death metal from the UK. One of my favourite bands in the UK underground scene. They’ll earn new fans at the next Siege!

Black/Death metal from Dublin. A band making a lot of waves over the past twelve months. They play old school dirty Blackened Death metal and do it well.

Repulsive Vision

Old school Death Metal from the UK. Another band from the UK underground scene I rate very highly! I think I may have to make this Siege!!

Belfast based Death metal band Indominus are playing their first Siege! The lads are now a band a couple of years and have new material on the way that will undoubtedly be their strongest to date!

Rupturation are literally a brand new band. No material released as of yet, but considering they are on this bill and the first gig they are playing is supporting Bloodshot Dawn. They just really have something in the tank and I’m for one more than a little interested to see what they deliver!

That’s the third announcement. Loads of Death/Black/Heavy in this one! All are excellent and worthy of your time at the Siege!

Instrumental Prog Artist SCHIERMANN Releases New Video ‘Technical Disabilities’

Instrumental Prog artist Chris Schiermann has released the music video for Technical Disabilities’, a track from his debut self titled album. Premiered by Metal Injection, ‘Technical Disabilities’ celebrates the growth of an instrumental virtuoso through impressive skill and monumental ability.

In early 2017 I discovered an Irish one man Prog metal act in The Vicious Head Society. For 2018 it’s Schiermann! This is excellent! A Prog metal masterpiece!  I advise all that enjoy this to check out the album which we have a link to below.

The video and track features Amos Williams of Tesseract on bass, with Amos also directing the video. Schiermann describes ‘Technical Disabilities’ as “self competition” and the desire to perfect various instrumental techniques through work and commitment is evident in this track.

Schiermann will be announcing a UK tour this summer and is performing at UK Tech Fest on the 5th to 9th of July
