Bloodstock Festival New Blood Stage Feature Part 2

In this feature I shall be covering five more bands that are performing on the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2016. Our previous list can be seen to the left of this piece should you wish to check out the previous five bands. I’d recommend you should anyway…
The bios shall be brief as this is all about checking out each bands music. That’s what will decide if you wish to possibly check them out at the festival itself this August. You may not have heard of a lot of these bands, but wasn’t Mastodon etc a band you never heard of at one point!
Enough talk, lets get down to business!
Vehement

Vehement play Black/extreme metal and hail from the South Coast of England. Full of everything that makes a great Black metal band. Gnarling vocals, great drumming and the rest!
Check out “Oceans Of Rot” here!

Burning The Dream hail from Glasgow and play their own unique blend of progressive metal with a metalcore/Lamb Of God edge.
Check out “Stongbow Headache” here!

Check out their Live video here that includes “I Can’t Breathe,” “Not Quite A Murder” & “War Has Begun”
That’s the second five bands covered in this line of feature. I strongly suggest checking all the bands out, and following our features. Five bands at a time, and who knows? You could find your new favourite band!

Bloodstock Festival New Blood Stage Feature Part 1

In this feature I shall be covering five bands that are set to perform on the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Festival 2016. All gained their spot by winning a particular Metal To The Masses Competition.
The bios shall be very brief, but this is all about checking out each bands music. That’s what will decide if you wish to possibly check them out at the festival itself this August. You may not have heard of a lot of these bands, but wasn’t Mastodon etc a band you never heard of at one point!
Enough talk, lets get down to business!

Subsist

Carlow based Subsist have been very quite in the recent times. That’s all set to change though! I was informed by two band members at the Metal To The Masses final that they have a new EP in the works and hyped for what they have coming!
The lads have already supported Chelsea Grin and Evil Scarecrow. To include members who were previously in other bands. Put that all together and all have learned the lessons needed to succeed as a band and improve.
Certain members were busy with college stuff and ensuring their education instead of chasing a pipe dream. Which will also stand to them as you always need a plan A,B,C and D in this life…
They’re getting ready to come back and hit it hard so get to know this band. Great potential here and their first single proved that. Considering they’re hyped about their new material and ready to have a right go at it. I’d say these lads will have a good run if all works out for them.
Check out “The Night After” here. Remember, this is an older song and their next output shall be better!

Horrenda

Dublin based Horrenda started as an experimental black metal solo project of Darragh “Outis” O’Connor in 2015. Most of the writing was done while playing with Theories Divide in which he split from in 2015, although still playing with Axial Symmetry and Saint Slaughter. The man doesn’t stop!
In September 2015, Darragh released the project’s first two releases “Ecthra” and “Bellum Civile”. He played bass, guitars, keys and did the vocals on all the demo tracks.Very soon after these releases dropped on Bandcamp, Horrenda were asked to be a part of the Wulfrune Worxwil/Vinland Wulf Warfield French label. Wulfrune Worxwil put out special cassette editions of “Ecthra” and “Bellum Civile” in November 2015.
In 2016, Horrenda stepped it up a notch and became and full live band focused on faster heavier material for their live sound. Darragh changed the tone of the band into something more akin to a mix of Mayhem, Darkthrone and the genre of Black gaze. Covering topics such as Irish mythology, politics and Irish history.
The project found a drummer (and later bassist) in Daragh “Créachta” Kenny (MORALITY, SVET KANT). Max “Urât” Bevan (EMETOPHILE and KOMANA) joined as a studio member. In April 2016, the outfit was completed with Arron “Nomad” O’ Shaughnessy on Lead Vocals.
Horrenda were then signed to Depressive Illusions Records in 2016 and they released the “Neronian Times” demo in April 2016.
That’s their already impressive bio after such a short space of time. It’s also great to see a down and dirty Black metal band appearing here in Ireland. It’s a genre that’s very rare here now in many regards. This type of music was a trend in the 90’s, so they’re clearly doing it for the love of the music and have played quite a few gigs this year in Dublin already.
If you’re a fan of old school Black metal? You’re going to love this band! The genre has became very melodic I suppose in many regards and this sound is quite unique now to hear from a young band.
Check out EYE here. This is a high quality live recording and showcases their horrible nasty sound. But in the best possible way!
